All this to coincide with the centenary of the arrival of the first man to the South Pole (The Norwegian Roald Admunsen on 12/14/1911) and will be our way of commemorating one of the big challenges achieved by men in the exploration history.
One of those challenges which cannot be experienced only with money, and so special that can only be appreciated if you focus a spirit of challenge, discovery and absolute connection with the environment and the vastness it represents and conveys.
Season 2011-2012
Having done together with Pep Busquets in the same car the Dakar 2000 (I Was the co-pilot), becoming the first team in the history that ended the world's toughest motor driving race, driving only with the hands; and we were up together (in separate cars) in the Dakar 2006 and 2007, now I face the challenge to promote and act as Team Manager, together with my partner and friend Rafael Galán, for the NO HANDICAP TEAM.
This team is very special because it will be made in all areas (Racing, mechanics and organization), for at least 50% of members with severe disabilities, fighting for the overall podium in the Spanish Rally-Raid Championship. All to prove that the limits or disabilities, are depending more on our attitudes that on our circumstances.
The team leader will obviously be Pep Busquets, who with his enthusiasm and perseverance has energized us all to fight for this goal.
An event very close to home, which will allow us to discover corners of the Costa Brava that I'm sure many of us still do not know.
The race will be done in three stages of 25-55-55Km, for a total of 135 that will connect the two sides of the most beautiful part of the Spanish coast.
6 stages in seven days to complete and spectacular 240 grueling kilometers through the Moroccan Sahara Desert.
Here I discovered this aspect of the "Adventure Running," to which I will be very focused over the next two years to address some challenges that I have in mind.
AFTER PARTICIPATING IN 7 DAKARS, MY FIRST DAKAR
1st. Spanish facing the Dakar with a Buggy (two-wheel drive), and no copilot.
1st. Dakar facing as real adventure that focuses on a certain return to the origins of the event, rather than pure competition.
1st. Dakar in South America after racing 7 in Africa. Noting the problem of not being able to run in the Sahara due to the geopolitical problems.
1st. Dakar Aware: This participation will be the first test for the "Racing 4 Change" project, which aims to promote responsible attitudes, engaged and active from the sport.
A marathon that every runner aims to run one day, and doing that in the year of such an special anniversary, which no other sport can hold, will mean running the 42.195 km with the feeling of being fully connected with history.
