To run the 'Marathon des Sables' we use a lot of technological progress at different levels: Material, Food, Communication, etc....

Of these, we mention two lesser-known technologies, which are very helpful in this ultra marathon where the self sufficiency is a basic rule which makes it very authentic:

POWER TRAVELLER - MINI GORILLA:

A super lithium high density battery, which weighs only 260 grams and is used to upload all kinds of devices for many hours. We will use it to keep the batteries always full from our photo cameras, IPods, mobiles, etc...

It will be a important gadget for the whole team, which has been provided by the store "Muntanya de Llibres" from Vic (Barcelona)

RACE TRACKER:

An application that, through a Satellite transmission device, allows everybody to follow us on-line in real-time throughout the race.

It is a system developed by a company from Barcelona, ​​which uses an environment of Google Maps i Google Earth, and manages the signals from different types of signal generators: SPOT, GPRS or 3G Phones, Radio, etc...

You just have to click on the specific icon enabled on this site since next Saturday (March 2^nd.), to follow any time all members of our team. This system is also used in test period by the organization of the "Marathon des Sables", being limited to 120 runners this year.
