Since 2007 I didn't have this experience. Despite having lived it seven times before, I must say that the emotion and feelings to start this unique event in the world, has continued impressing me as if it was the first absolute time.
Having in front of us 10,000 km. with the extreme hardness imaginable to advance with a motor vehicle, and exit in the middle of a huge crowd of people in the heart of the capital of Argentina, it is impossible to leave anyone indifferent.
Here in Argentina there's a passion for motor sports, and the Dakar follow-up is amazing. We went through the streets of Buenos Aires, and could hardly move between the amount of people that filled every corner.
Today's stage had no special section, and therefore, we only had to travel 377 km. of liaison to the city of Victoria. It was good to drive a while with no pressure, in order to finish a few details and check the final work to do in the Biouvac tonight in to meet 100% for the stage tomorrow, where the things start to be serious.
The second stage, from January 2, consists of a very long link of 566Km., And a special of 192 km on very fast tracks.
Remember that normally, each stage of the Dakar has two sections: The liaison, where we always drive on the easy and obvious route to get from one point to another, are not timed, and only has a maximum time to do it; and the special section, where the real race is: They are timed, seeking the greatest difficulty in the path, and assume the real hardness of Dakar.
From now on I'll try to keep the site updated daily, either directly or through the people who help me in all matters of communication. But now we enter the "Uncertain" zone, and depending how the things get complicated, there will be some day/s that we cannot update information on the web.
